Shillong, Jan 10; The Police of West Garo Hills District inform that on the 9th January, 2026 at around 2:00 PM, an incident was reported from Goalgaon under Rajabala Police Station, where a member of ACHIK NGO, Shri Dilseng M. Sangma, of Amokgre, Phulbari, West Garo Hills District was assaulted by unidentified persons.
He was rushed to Bhaitbari CHC and referred to Tura Civil Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Police teams have already been deployed to trace those involved, and all efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the perpetrators involved in theincident at the earliest.
The District Police requests all citizens and general public to maintain peace and harmony and not to spread or circulate any unverified or provocative content relating to the incident over social media platforms etc., as such actions may disturb communal harmony in the district. In this regard a Peace Committee is also being initiated by the District Administration.

On the raid that was made last night the police has arrested there people and they are still on their job to arrest others who are involved in this incident that let to the death of one person and others injured.
