Maligaon, March 22: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has been consistently maintaining strict vigilance against crime and ensuring the safety and security of passengers across its jurisdiction. In a series of successful operations, RPF teams apprehended multiple individuals involved in theft of passenger belongings at key stations.
On 7th March, 2026 at Guwahati railway station, two persons were apprehended with one stolen mobile phone worth approximately Rs10,000, and were handed over to GRP/Guwahati for legal action.
Subsequently, on 13thand 15th March, 2026 at Lumding railway station, two separate offenders were apprehended with stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs 5,000 and Rs6,000 respectively, and were handed over to GRP/Lumding.
Further, on 14th March, 2026 at Guwahati railway station, one person was apprehended with a stolen mobile phone worth approximately Rs15,000 and handed over to GRP/Guwahati, where cases were registered in all instances under relevant sections of law.
Apart from crime prevention, RPF personnel also extended prompt medical assistance to passengers in distress. On 9th March, 2026 at New Jalpaiguri railway station, a passenger namely was found sick and unable to walk and was immediately shifted to Sadar Hospital, Siliguri for treatment.
On 14th March, 2026 an unidentified male person found in a sick/injured condition in the yard area of New Jalpaiguri was rescued and admitted to District Hospital, Siliguri.
On the same day, another passenger suffering from breathing problems on board Train No. 15961 UP, was provided immediate assistance and shifted to Railway Hospital, New Jalpaiguri. Further, on 17th March, 2026 an unknown female passenger found in a semi-conscious condition at New Jalpaiguri railway station was attended to and shifted to Railway Hospital for necessary treatment.
Northeast Frontier Railway reiterates its commitment towards ensuring passenger safety, security, and well-being. The RPF continues to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding railway property while also extending timely humanitarian assistance whenever required.
