Shillong, Mar 13: Shillong Cricket Association A are just three wickets away from winning the final of the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s Inter-District U-23 Men’s Cricket Tournament in Mendipathar and will look to finish the job early tomorrow morning.
At stumps on the second day Tura District Cricket Association A were 64/7 in their second innings, 203 runs away from an unlikely win with one day to go in the match.
In the morning TDCA-A resumed their first innings on 47/8 and added 15 more runs before succumbing for 62 all out, giving SCA-A a lead of 125 after they had scored 187/10 in their first innings. Abhishek Kumar claimed both remaining wickets for SCA-A to finish with impressive figures of 8/22.
In their second innings, the Shillong team declared on 141/8 in 33.5 overs. Ashif Khan top-scored with 26 not out, while Manish Sharma took 4/40 (match figures of 10/95) and Cham Sangma 3/41.
That set Tura-A a target of 267 for victory. Sengpan T Sangma was the rock for the team with his innings of 36, which included six fours and one six, but though there were some of his team mates who occupied the crease well.
They were not really able to score many runs even though they did get past their first innings total. Swastic Chettri (5/9) did the damage for SCA-A today, bagging a five-wicket haul in 15.3 overs, while Kumar (1/14) and Bipin Ray (1/26) shared a wicket each.
