Shillong, June 06: A one day Programme on World Environment Day was organised by State Council of Science Technology and Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya, on the 5th June 2023 in collaboration with Shillong Science Centre at the Shillong Science Centre, NEHU Campus, Shillong.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Solution to Plastic Pollution” Shri DB Gunanka, IFS, Member Secretary SCSTE, Meghalaya was the Chief Guest at the function.The one day Event included many activities that were taken part by different School Eco Clubs and School Students from the State.
A total of 180nos of participants including teachers, parents and students attended the programme. Poster Presentations, Exhibitions, Popular Talk by young local entrepreneurs, Skits, Puppetry Show and also Open quiz, Drawing and Painting, Essay writing and Extempore speech competitions were the main highlights during the one day programme.
The 60nos of students were shortlisted for drawing and painting and essay competition for Junior and senior category. The winners were rewarded with cash prizes of Rs.5000 for 1st prize, Rs.3000 for 2nd prize, Rs.2000 for 3rd prize and Rs.1000 for consolation prize.
Senior Category in drawing and Painting, Bansahnam Shyrkon get first price, Wankupar Swer second price and Ilawankmen Marbaniang get third price, in junior category Banlamshwa War get first price, Tomanbga Pariong get second price and BakyrmenSkhem War get third price.
In The Essay writing competition in the senior category, Nandini Snaitang get first price, Mangkyrpang Kharshiiing get second price and Stepphyrnai Shyrkon get third price, in the junior category, Orpha Niki Hynniewta get first price, Tanvi Bhatia get second price and Phibanylla Lyngdoh Mawlong get third price.
