Umaim, Feb 04: Today thousand of people from different part ka Bri-U-Hynniewtrep take part at the annual rituals Kiew Lum Sohpet Bneng. This pilgrimage is organized on the first Sunday of February every year, where the Hynniewtrep People seek their blessings from God Almighty.
The Khasi belief that the seven clans of the Khasi race are believed to be descendants of heavenly beings it is through Sohpet bneng they come to this world to work and in the evning they go back which mean that they are free to go and come.
On this particular day the first worshiping ceremony of all the individual is started at the gate which is kwon as “Thoh Shun” and at the top of the hills the main ritual started with paryer to the almighty to seek his blessing after the prayer then the shad mastih started and the rice was distributed to all visitors.(SP News)
