Shillong, August 01: The Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, Smti I. Majaw today inaugurated a two day training programme on Incident Response System (IRS) for the Incident Response Teams (IRTs) of Zone –I of Shillong city which cover Laitumkhrah area held at the Training Hall, Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, Shillong.
The programme was organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) under the aegis of the Developing Resilience Cities through Risk Reduction in the context of Disaster and Climate Change which is a joint initiative of the USAID Ministry of Home Affairs and the United Nations Development Programme.
In her brief address, Smti I Majaw informed that Shillong City is divided into seven zones and the training is being conducted to familiarize the Incident Response Team members of Planning, Operation and Logistic sections of zone –I about their role and responsibilities for quick and effective response based on the Incident Response System during disaster, she added. Shri M. Rymbai, Fire Protection Officer is the resource persons for the two day training.
