Shillong, March 13: In continuation of this oftice Order issued vide Memo No. EGHICON.1/LO/2026/57-A dated 12th
March, 2026, regulating commercial activities at Williamnagar Main Bazar in the interest of maintaining public order and safety, it has been deemed necessary to allow limied functioning of essential services
under strict regulationv.
Whereas the situation continues to require close monitoring to prevent any disturbance to public order; Now therefore, in cxcrcise of the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Bharativa Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Shri R. P. Marak, IAS, Distriet Magistrate, East Garo Hills District, do
hereby order the following with immediate eflect and until further orders.
Williamnagar Main Bazar area shall be permitted to open only from 06:00 AM to 01:00 PM.
Only essential shops dealing with food and daily necessities such as grocery stores, food
provisions, and other essential commodities shall be allowed to operate during the permitted hours.
All non-essential ecommercial establishments including shops dealing in electronies, clothing, garments, footwear, hardware, and other non-essential goods shall remain strictly closed until further orders.
The Williamnagar Main Bazar area shall remain under strict surveillance, and the movement and activities within the area shall be closely monitored by the distriet administration and law enforcement authorities to ensure maintenanee of public order.
All vegetable vendors shall continue vending activities at the Parade Ground,Williamnagar up to curfew relaxation period. No vegetable vendors allowed in Williamnagar Main Bazaar.
The Police and Executive Magistrates concerned shall ensure strict enforcement of this order.
Any violation of this order shall attract action under the relevant provisions of law.
