Jowai, November 20: During the intervening night of 19th / 20th Nov’ 2012, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Nongkhen, Ex-108 Bn deployed in East Jaintia Hills distt seized a motorcycle (Bajaj Pulsar- 150 CC) worth approx. Rs. 78,000 (Seventy eight thousand) while being smuggled into Bangladesh on International Border near BP No. 1276/14-S in East Jaintia Hills. Seized motorcycle has been handed over to the concerned police station.
This is the second instance of motorcycle seizure in the last one week.It is worthwhile to mention here that a gang of trans-border motorcycle thieves and smugglers are operating in border belts of Meghalaya- Bangladesh border, who after stealing the motorcycles, smuggle them to Bangladesh as they earn a handsome amount in Bangladesh.
Border Security Force of Meghalaya Frontier have stepped up extra vigil and intensified operations on the International Border to check such activities of smuggling and illegal infiltration/exfiltration and trans-border crimes.(SP News)
