Central Government employees of Meghalaya observed a one-day nationwide strike

Shillong Dec 12: Joining the rest of the aggrieved employees working in various central government departments in the country, the Central Government employee’s of Meghalaya observed a one-day nationwide strike   government towards the 15 point charter to press for their 15- point charter of demands including scrapping of the new pension scheme.

Talking to reporters on Wednesday general secretary of Meghalaya State Co-ordination Committee of Central government Employees and Workers (MSCCCGEW), JL Das said “The strike has been called in support of their 15-point charter of demands.

While highlighting on the major demands of the union JL Das said, “The major demands of the union includes setting up of seventh central pay commission for revision of wages from January 1, 2011, merger of DA with pay, filling up of all vacant posts, an end to downsizing staff and removal of certain conditions on compassionate appointments,” adding that the union also demanded regularization of Gramin Dak Sewaks

Other points of demand includes Revision of OTA, night duty allowance and clothing rates, implement all arbitration awards, make the right to strike a legal and fundamental right of the government employees on par with the other sections of the working class.(SP News)
