Shillong November 29: On behalf of the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, we extends our sincere appreciation to Dr Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister, Government of Meghalaya for his farsightedness and bold initiative in launching Megha Health Insurance Scheme, which is universal and includes ALL households with a financial cover of Rs 1.6 Lakhs per year in the State.
The is truly a landmark scheme and a beginning, similar to the MNREGS which has changed the landscape and empowered the people in the rural areas.
Extending the Megha Health Insurance Scheme to all the citizens of the State without categorizing between BPL or APL has to be genuinely appreciated as present health care cost are beyond the reach of the majority of people.
As one who has personally helped where ever possible and having painfully witnessed helplessly so many people in the state who have had to literally beg and sell all their assets to cover medical expenses of their loved and dear ones. This will be one historic decision and initiative of the State Government led by Dr Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister.
A healthy people is wealth and valuable asset for the State of Meghalaya .
We call on the Central Government to encourage other States of India to initiate and replicate the scheme all over the country for the benefit of the millions of Middle-Class people of India .
Once again congratulating Dr Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister, for this path braking scheme and look forward to its early implementation and completion.(SP News)
