Shillong, Nov 5: Chief Minister’s Golf Tournament season 3 will be held at Shillong Golf Course, Shillong on 30th November and 1st December, 2013, informed Mr. A.L. Hek, Minister Information and Public Relations and Chairman, Organising Committee, Chief Minister’s Golf Cup, 2013. Others present on the occasion were Mr. David Nongrum, MLA, Vice President Organising Committee, Mr. M. Rapsang, Director, Shillong Club in charge Golf, Mr. F.Warjri, Secretary, Shillong Golf Club and Mr. Vikash Agarwal, Member Shillong Golf Club.
“The main aim and objective of holding the tournament is to promote budding golfers and tourism especially golf tourism in the State”, said Mr. Hek. He also said that this tournament will help in showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the State at the national and international level, since the tournament will saw the expected participation of golfers from different golf clubs and corporate houses all over country, besides golf clubs from Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Bangladesh. The tournament will help in attracting prospective and potential investors for making investment in the State, opined Mr. Hek.
Stating that it is a myth that golf is a rich man game, Mr. Hek appealed to all youngsters who have talents to play golf and assured that the Shillong Golf Club will provide all possible help in promoting these young and budding golfers.
Before the holding of this amateur tournament, Mr. Hek informed that a cleaning drive will be organized in the golf course and its surroundings so as to make the golf course more attractive and beautiful.
He therefore appeal to the local populace in particular and to the public in general to help in maintaining cleanliness of this 18 hole natural golf course and to cooperate with the Shillong Golf Club in preserving the pristine beauty of this golf course and in making the tournament a grand success.(SP News)
