Deputy Chief Minister BM Lanong realeased the Meghalaya Journal

Shillong Dec 5: Meghalaya Judgements a bi-monthly journal compiled and published by SeniorMeghalaya Journal Released was relased by the Deputy Chief minister Bindo M Lanong at the Shillong bar Association today.

The aimed of publishing the journal was to educate the people especially the young practicioners in the state.

While addressing the gathering after the released of the journal deputy chief minister, Bindo M lanong said that the book will go a long way in simplyfying the understanding of the  issues related to the supreme court, high court  judgements of Meghalaya.

He also urged the young practioners to make use of the book to the optimum. Expressing astonishment over the district council’s courts excuses for not providing the courts judgement citing technical snags, lanong said that the district court has long been computerised and its surprising to learn about the excuse, further adding that the unavailability of the courts judgement will cripple the understandingof the legal process.

Informing about the governments intentions to provide easy access to judgement especially the rural populace, Bindo informed that the government is contemplating to activate and reactivate the lower local courts to address to their legal problems within a stone throw.

Further elaborating on the content of the book, the author Dr BP Todi explained the journals aims to provide the supreme court journal in a nutshell. The easy access to the reference book will help especially the young practioners to handle cases well, he added.

Lauding the effort of the author senior advocate, GS.Massar said, “ the journal will help improve the knowledge of law and its applicability in the context of Meghalaya.”

It may be mentioned here that the autor has also pioneered the Guwahati Law Report (GLR).(SP News)
