Shillong, April 16: The HNLC strongly condemns the atrocities that are being imposed to the people residing in Langpih as well as areas of Block 1 and Block 2. The illegal Nepali foreign settlers in Langpih had time and again caused huge damages to our people in Langpih.
These illegal foreigners are snatching away the livelihood of the local people and lands.The HNLC in the press statement issued today alleged that these illegal foreigners also enjoy the support of the Assam Government as they are a good source of vote banks.
The publicity secretary of the HNLC said that they had witnessed many incidents in the past where these foreigners had assaulted the local people. Many villagers of Langpih had also lost their lives in defending themselves from these foreigners.
The HNLC has issued quite notice to all the Nepali foreigner from Langpih and the entire District of Khasi and Jintia Hills with immediate effect. The band out fit the HNLC appeals to the various pressure groups and NGOs of the Hynñiewtrep to unite and to take up this matter seriously for the betterment of our Hynñiewtrep.
The publicity secretary of the HNLC said that the council had also received complaints from people residing in Block 1 and 2 areas comprising of madan umwang,umthlieh,umsalang, that our people were threatened by dire consequences by Karbi militants residing in those areas during elections and even in the past the villagers were issued demand notes by various Karbi groups.
The HNLC would not tolerate any interference by the outside groups into its territory. The Karbi militants groups should harass the government of Assam instead of harassing the villagers.They have political problem with Assam and should not further indulge into the activities such as harassing our Hynñiewtrep villagers.
The council also applauds the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Raid Nongtung for being brave and setting up an example. The council also supports the stand taken by the KSU North Khasi Hills to support its people. It is time for the youths to defend its land from the interference of outsiders.
The HNLC alleged that wether the State Police department blind? Or they are turning deaf ears to the problems of the local people. It is easier for the meghalaya police to arrest the cadres of the HNLC And pro ILP leaders but when it comes to arresting tainted politicians and other militant groups torturing our people ,the police department has becomes paralyzed.
The government has never tried to solve the border problems. The HNLC said that it is the people who will have to come together under a common platform to fight with the injustices of the government and its policies.
