Tura, Feb 17: The newly floated outfit – Achik Songna Anpachakgipa Kotok (ASAK), “vanguards of Garoland” today refuted all allegations levelled by Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) against them.
Deputy commander of ASAK, Chue Dilsrang said, “GNLA’s allegation against Reding T Sangma is completely baseless and wrong”.
GNLA had said that Reding T Sangma floated the new outfit after desserting with Rs. 70 lakhs.
He also said that Reding was prevented from working by GNLA’s commander-in-chief, Sohan D Shira. “Reding was prevented from discharging his duties as former finance secretary of GNLA”, said Chue.
He also claimed that Reding never extorted money during his tenure as finance secretary of the GNLA.
He further alleged that Reding’s post was for show and that he never had a hand in financial matters as Sohan himself took complete charge of matters relating to finance.
“Finally he was stripped off from the post of finance secretary”, he added.
However, the GNLA had said that Reding was never demoted, infact he was promoted as greivance secretary.
On the allegation that Reding killed one of his own cadres, Chue said, “It was impossible as the position held by Reding in the erstwhile GNLA would make it impossible for him to take matters into his own hands”.
“Sohan had complete power over the outfit and it was impossible that Reding would have taken such a step”, he said.
The new outfit has appealed to civil bodies in Garo hills to support their cause. They clarified that they don’t have any intention to harm anybody, who works for the interest of Garo hills.(SP News)
