Nurse to undertake their profession seriously: AL Hek

Shillong, Aug 12: The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Meghalaya State Branch held its 18th Biennial Conference on the 12th August, 2014 at NEIGRIHMS Auditorium, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong. The theme for the conference was “Developing Effective Leaders in Nursing: Today andTomorrow, for Quality Patient Care.”

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Meghalaya Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. A. L. Hek said that the profession of a nurse is a noble one. He encouraged the nurses to undertake their profession seriously and discharge the same with dignity and honour. Mr Hek further added that nurses should create a friendly environment and handle the patients with compassion.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. M. Wahlang, Additional Director of Health Services (MI) emphasized on the theme and spoke about the good quality of nursing leadership.

In her Keynote address Ms. Eudora Blah, Lecturer, Woodland Institute of Nursing, spoke about the objectives of nursing. She stressed on the quality care of the patients and encouraged the nurses to act beyond boundaries. Ms. Blah also spoke about building leadership qualities among the nurses to enable a smooth discharge of duty and to cultivate a sense of inspiration and motivate the upcoming leaders.

Earlier during the programme, Mrs. J. F. Balieh, President, TNAI, Meghalaya State Branch submitted a memorandum to the health minister which relates to the recruitment of the nurses.

Others who were present on the occasion were Mrs. R. Bareh, President, TNAI Shillong Branch; Mrs. S. M. Jyrwa, Secretary, TNAI Meghalaya State Branch; doctors and nurses from different medical institutions.(SP News)
