People has the right to know: Dr Mukul Sangma

Shillong November 16:  The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma while speaking as the chief quest on the occasion of National Press day at Shillong Club said that people has the right to know what the Government is doing, its only through the media that people know what the government is doing.

With the coming of the act Right to information, people has the power to ask the government about the programed and policy what the government have for the people. The Chief Minister lamented because people are not aware about the scheme that it’s meant for them.

The Chief Minister pointed out that there is a need for media penetration into rural areas. People of the state need to know what is going around the state. As a responsible government we would like the people to know what the government has done for them.

In order to grow the government has to invest, through investment the people of the state will grow economically. In the democracy country like India media play a vital role in molding the opinion of the people. On this National press day the chief minister announced that the rate for advertisement has been revised.

At the same time the Chief Minister asked the media’s house to see that the journalist get better pay and the tripartite committee was form to discussed the issued  so that Journalist where not left out.(SP News)
