Tura, Feb 17: The civil society women’s organisation (CSWO) today expressed shock over the video, which showed a blindfolded man falling down after volley of bullets fired at him by a suspected GNLA militant.
The video was released to media by chairman of new civil body – A’chik Peace Volunteers Council (APVC), Che Guevera Marak.
The 26 seconds video was taken along National Highway 44E, connecting Shillong, Nongstoin and Tura. The highway is still under construction.
APVC in their letter to union home secretary, Anil Goswami had stated that the video clips was aimed to terrorize people.
President of CSWO, Agnes Kharshiing claimed that the video clip is old and is being circulated by few police officers like TC Chacko and IGP GHP Raju.
According to Kharshiing the two officer does nothing but taps calls of the public.
She said the video was found by the police during a raid.
“This seizure should have been brought out to the notice of the authorities and should also be in the seizure list. This seems to be a diversion tactic as there is a demand for action against Police officer T Chacko for killing and shooting in cold blood a 60 year old labourer, Washington Marak, and the Government is given 20 days time.Now even the credibility of the video is to be verified and the cops, then, should have tried to find out who the person shot was or if the video was a a fake”, Kharshiing said in a release.
She added, “Going by the tricks of the Police like Chacko this seems to be a propaganda because if this was real then since this video is more than a year old, the police should have tried to find out who the victim was”.
Kharshiing was very vocal in her statement saying that it is high time that public should know that the real terrorists are posing in uniforms and even shaming their own force, because there are a few good ones who become lambs to the slaughter and these killers do not care if they sacrifice their own. This is a propaganda of few killers of the police like TC Chacko who are for militancy so they can loot Garo hills.
The CSWO demanded that such cops be booked for extortion.
“Each truck in coal belt areas are paying thousands and the illegal check gates are allowed freely. Many mines are also owned by these cops, unofficially”, said claimed.
Her statement also said when there is a move for peace by some NGO’s and individuals from Garo hills who are requesting the militants to come above ground, Chacko and West Garo Hills SP, Mukesh Singh have hired killers for politicians.
She also stated that GHP Raju, feeds all the wrong informations to the public and the intelligence, while they loot from our state.
Kharshiing pitched that calling in the Army is not a solution for Garo hills.
“The solution is to arrest T Chacko and Mukesh Singh, and ministers and high ranking officials involved in rampant corruption, leading to much Human Rights abuse of the common man”.(SP News)
