Responsible citizens will make the nation strong and vibrant: Dr Mukul

Shillong November 19: As part of celebrating the birthday anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Indiara Gandhi, the country as a whole observed Quami Ekta diwas on Monday. Joining the rest of the country Meghalaya also celebrated the occasion in different parts of the state.

In one of the occasion which was held at the premises of the Meghalaya Secretariat chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma administered the National Integration Pledge.

Addressing the gathering Sangma informed that the programmed was initiated o ensure that we realize the responsibility of each one of us in ensuring the integration of the country with the largest democracy be preserved.

“And with this integration we can contribute to an extent as individuals as responsible citizens to make this nation strong and vibrant,” he added

While mentioning that India is a land of diversity, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance and need of the role that each individual play in shaping the countries future despite the many hurdles faced and yet to be faced he said,

“In-spite of the huge diversity that we have our nation has been able to withstand all types of challenges, it will be imperative for all of us to see that each one us take it as our responsibility in contributing to the endeavor of the government in ensuring an enabling environment which will further strengthen our country”.

It may be mentioned here that the Quami Ekta Diwas was observed with an aim to bring about the spirit of Natioanal Integration and to create an awareness amongst the citizen of the country that though we belong to different castes, religions and regions and speak different languages we recognize the fact that we are all one

Meanwhile, pledge was taken by by ministers, bureaucrats and a large number of meghalaya secretariat  employees. (SP News)
