Shillong, August 01: Sudesh Kumar, IPS, has taken over the charge of Inspector General of Border Security Force, Meghalaya Frontier at Shillong on 1st Aug’2014. He is 1987 batch Kerala Cadre IPS officer and has worked in BSF as IG(Prov) Delhi, BSF HQr.
Officer also has had one of the most prestigious assignments in UN as “Police commissioner” in Congo. He has been awarded President Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the year 2003.
Shri Sudesh Kumar, after taking over charge as IG of Meghalaya Ftr has emphasized on need of effective border management in order to prevent crimes on international border, maintaining cordial relations with the border population, respecting human rights, and welfare of troops.
Officer also served earlier in Meghalaya Ftr as Inspector General from 25th June 2011 to 26th Oct’2011 and 1st Feb’2012 to 1st Aug’2013.(SP News)
