The controversial CMJ University chancellor CM Jha is given 10 police custody

Shillong, April 24: The controversial CMJ University chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha who was arrested by the Meghalaya police from Bihar today the police has produce him in the court, where the court has granted ten days police custody.

Mr Jha was arrested while he was filed his nomination papers as an Independent candidate from Bihar’s Jhanjarpur Lok Sabha seat, was arrested by the Meghalaya police. He was arrested on the allegation that he was involved in selling of fake degree certificates’ to students across the country through his university.

Jha was on the run after the Supreme Court cancelled his anticipatory bail on March 7 in connection with cases filed against his university by the then Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary.

CMJ university alleged awarded “fake” degrees to students hailing from different parts of the country including Meghalaya.

Meghalaya’s CID which is investigating the alleged lapses of CMJ University, has unearthed a number of irregularities in the varsity  functioning and registered criminal cases against Jha under section 420, 406, 466, 34, 109, 120 B and 467 of the Indian Penal Code.(SP News)
