The GCCM will be meeting at Jowai, to discuss their demand

Shillong, June 24: The Grand Council of Chiefs (comprising of Ka Dorbar Ki Khlieh Nongsynshar Ka Ri Hynniewtrep, Federation of Khasi States, Ka Dorbar Ki Dolloi, Ki Sirdarship and Council of Nokmas) will be meeting with the Dolloi, Lyngdoh, Pator, Rangbah Kur, and elders of the Elaka, including Rangbah Shnong, the women representative and Youths from the Elakas of Jaintia Hills on 26th June at the Village Court, Elaka Jowai, Loompyrdi, Iongpiah, Jowai

The meeting will discuss the following issues 1. The letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India, vide D.O. No. 9./10/2012 dated 18 July 2012, addressed to the Chief Secretary, Meghalaya, seeking views on the Memorandum from the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, relating to demands for a Partyless Council for the Council of the Chiefs of Meghalaya.

The proposed KHADC Village Administration Bill 2013- and also the proposed amendments to the Sixth Schedule­-Constitution Ri India  and 3. the resolution and decision of the Grand Council of Chiefs on 4th June 2013,  to meet on 13 August 2013, in the Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar at  11AM to discuss the 65 years of non-fulfillment of the national commitment as agreed through the Instrument of Accession and Annexed Agreement signed and accepted between the Government of India and the Twenty Five Khasi States on 15 Dec 1947 and 17 August 1948.(SP News)
