Shillong, August 21: The state executive meeting of the State Bharatiya Janata Party was held today in Shillong. Discuss about the forth coming general election to the Lok Sabha and the MDC election to the District Council in Meghalaya.
The president of the BJP Meghalaya State Unit in his address to the party workers said that the need of the party is to strengthen the party by organizing up to the grass root level which they will start after the rainy season under the programe Gao Cholo program.
In the presidential address Mr Khlur Sing Lyngdoh said that In the last assembly election, party has contested in thirteen constituencies and could not come out successfully in any of the constituencies even thought our workers really worked hard it was not possible for any candidate to win.
He also said that discipline has the same place in a political party which the Dharma occupies in a society. Democracies not only mean the holding of elections it required a well organized people also. The political Parties and leaders evolve ‘Life Values’ through their behavior.
“Our party’s ideological compass is Antyodaya which means ‘serving the last man in the queue’ aims at reaching out to the most marginalized sections of society. We need to also start the Antyodaya work in our State too. Every party worker need to reach the last man of the village and educate the poor people of his right, know the problems faced by the people and try to solve as much problems faced by the people.
The BJP president said that the condition of the State is in a mess. The law and order situation in the State (especially Garo Hills) is a matter of great concerned for us; crime against the women is on the rise in the State. The recent rape case in the Chief Minister’s own constituency ‘AMPATI’ where the accused a police officer is still absconding till date proves the utter failure of the Congress Government to protect the women in the State. The State Government has failed to address the issue of unemployment which is leading to frustration among the youths.
The Economy of the country has totally collapsed. Inflation has hit every Indian. We have seen that rupee has recorded decade’s worst fall. After celebrating the sixty senven years of Independence the Congress Party which ruled the country maximum of the time comes with a food security bill in a hurried way by passing an ordinance, our leaders have serious reservation on several points and moved an amendment in the parliament.
People’s disillusion is now turning into public anger. The tipping points come when people are angry and when people are angry they give mandate to any alternative that is credible. So today if we start working seriously in the State we can prove many political pundits wrong by emerging a credible alternative and to do so we all need to speak in one voice.(SP News)
