Jowai, August 16: In a significant milestone for local entrepreneurship, Roi Plants and Bakes inaugurated its new outlet at Shangpung, Laskein Block, West Jaintia Hills District on the 14/08/2026. The inauguration was attended by Shri Comingone Ymbon, MLA and Adviser to the Home (Police) Department, Government of Meghalaya; Shri M. Passah, Headman of Shangpung; and officials from PRIME Meghalaya.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ymbon appreciated the growth of Roi Plants & Bakes, noting that local enterprises reflect the entrepreneurial potential of the region’s youth. He also commended PRIME Meghalaya’s role in supporting homegrown businesses and encouraged more young entrepreneurs to come forward and benefit from support under CM-ELEVATE schemes.
As part of its incubation journey with PRIME, Roi Plants & Bakes received dedicated support in the form of mentoring, guidance on statutory compliance, packaging and labelling, and facilitation for food product testing – all of which have contributed to strengthening the brand’s foundation and readiness for growth.
Ms. Nidaroi Wann, Founder of Roi Plants & Bakes and a beneficiary of PRIME, was honoured with a place among the Top 35 under the Chief Minister’s E-Championship Challenge 6.0, and received a Business Support Grant of ₹2 Lakh in recognition of her entrepreneurial potential. This newly inaugurated outlet stands as the first of its kind to be established with the support of PRIME. Under this enterprise, she has created employment for over 5 individuals, contributing meaningfully to local livelihoods.
Roi Plants & Bakes began its journey in 2022 as a home-based bakery and has since grown into a recognised name in the local baking industry. The brand specialises in customised celebration cakes and sugar-free cakes, catering to a wide range of occasions while also serving the needs of health-conscious and diabetic customers.
Over the years, the business has steadily built its customer base through direct local sales, social media outreach, word-of-mouth referrals, and participation in exhibitions and local trade fairs. Its quality and craftsmanship have earned its recognition, including first prize at the First Shillong Cake Show in 2023, as well as an invitation to participate in the Cakeology Fest.
Ms. Wann, shared her gratitude for the support extended to her throughout her entrepreneurial journey. She noted that the mentorship and guidance received had been instrumental in helping her business grow from a home-based venture to a full-fledged outlet, and expressed hope that her journey would inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.
