YES Foundation Promotes Social Transformation through YES!

Shillong Feb 19: YES FOUNDATION, the social development arm of YES BANK, today launched YES! i am the CHANGE Film Project at IIM Shillong with an aim to inspire, engage and empower the students to participate in India’s social transformation. This project, through the medium of short films will facilitate a connection between students and social causes, thereby channelising the untapped energy of the youth, to voices less heard. The connection would lead to striking a chord between the two, and enable inner transformation, confidence, conviction and empower the students as agents of social change.

The students will take up the challenge of making short films of up to five minutes duration on social causes, everyday heroes and small acts of kindness in a seven day challenge. The best film from each institute will compete in a PAN-India competition and a national jury composed of eminent individuals will select the top three films. The films will be showcased in schools, colleges and film festivals across the country to increase awareness on social issues. As a prelude to the film making challenge, through the months of January and February, YES FOUNDATION will tour the IITs and IIMs across India conducting basic Film Making Workshops and Screenings of inspirational short films. Top teams from the IIM’s will be awarded a pre-placement summer internship offer from YES BANK. All participants will be awarded certificates.

Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Rana Kapoor, Chief Mentor, YES FOUNDATION said, “I truly believe that this natural project will positively contribute towards bringing about a change in the youth, who are the leaders of tomorrow. I am certain that these films would create greater social awareness and commitment, and further contribute to India’s social development. YES FOUNDATION will continue to nurture positive forces of social change, ensure inclusive development and contribute to nation building, by catalyzing social and financial entrepreneurship and frugal innovations.”

Prof. Sanjoy Mukherjee, Faculty, IIM Shillong, said, “Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute Of Management, Shillong provides a holistic approach towards addressing business problems of the new millennium and aims to develop unbeatable leaders for an economically and ecologically sustainable society.
