Garobadha, Sept 27:The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, South West Garo Hills District Association, organised a three-day Scouts and Guides Summer Camp 2026 from September 24 to 26 at St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Garobadha.
The camp brought together 286 participants from 12 schools under the District School Education Department of South West Garo Hills. The participants included 89 Scouts, 171 Guides, 13 Service Members and 13 staff members.
The camp was organised under the guidance of Pular D. Shira, District Secretary, with the support of Debar A. Sangma and Victor Derama T. Sangma, District Organising Commissioner and District Training Commissioner respectively.
On the opening day, Fr. Punit Kumar Lakra, Principal of St. Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, attended as Chief Guest and encouraged the participants to uphold discipline, service, teamwork and responsibility.
A major highlight of the camp was the Grand Camp Fire, graced by K. R. Marak, former District Secretary of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides and Principal of Ampati Government Higher Secondary School, as Chief Guest. The event provided the Scouts and Guides an opportunity to showcase their talents and strengthen the spirit of fellowship and unity.
The three-day camp offered participants practical learning experiences and activities focused on discipline, self-reliance, teamwork, cooperation, confidence and a spirit of service.
The successful completion of the camp was made possible through the support and efforts of the District Association, school authorities, leaders, trainers, staff, volunteers and participants. The camp concluded with a renewed commitment to the ideals and principles of the Scouts and Guides movement.
