Shillong Dec 12: THe officials from the Medical Council of India will paid their visit North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Medical Science (NEIGHRIMS,) to inspect, assess and decided on the official recognition of the graduate and post graduate MBBS course of the institution on January next year informed NEIGHRIMS, Director AG Ahangar.
Medical Council of India, recognition to the graduate and post graduate MBBS course of NEIGHRIMS is on the offing if everything goes well, hoped Ahangar.
Divulging on the details, Ahangar said, “The decision came after a recently held meeting with the MCI,” further adding , “ in the meeting they agreed to send members of the MCI to assess the examination of the MBBS graduate and post graduate course and give a nod whether to recognize or not.”
The theory examination is schedule on January followed by practical’s later.
It may be mentioned that recently the Supreme Court in its ruling had said that the Medical Council of India (MCI) can only give “recommendatory” recognition to institutions but has no power to grant one. Such powers lie with the Government of India.(SP News)
