Shillong, Jan 11: Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr.Mukul Sangma today with a view to promote the regions indegenious music , art and culture laying special emphasis on Meghalaya released a book on Indegenious Musical Instrument (North East) and along side inaugurated the Don Bosco Museum revamped website.
Addressing the gathering later the release of the book, Mukul said that the book entitled Indigenous Musical Instruments (North East India) will help the youth and will also allow the long coming indigenous culture to flourish.
Dr. Sangma also informed that the State Government has constituted district arts and culture societies which will go a long way in promoting indigenous traditional instruments.
“The Government is not only trying to preserve but is also promoting indigenous musical instruments,” Mukul asserted.
Dr. Sangma also opined that in the changing hospitality sector of the North East region, stakeholders should refrain from trying to replicate the hotels and services of the west and should instead, “Concentrate in our strengths which lie elsewhere.”
The book published by the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Culture under the leadership of its Director Fr. Joseph provides an insight to the various indigenious musical instruments of the North east region. (SPNEWSAGENCY)
