Shillong, August 03: The major opposition party in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly the United Democratic Party (UDP) in their meeting held at the residence of the leaders of opposition Dr Donkupar Roy they have decided to endorse for the implementation of Inner Line Permit in the State of Meghalaya To check Influx.
The Working President Paul Lyngdoh told reporter that in this special meeting today they have decided that the party will send five delegations to the All Party Meeting call by the government to be held on the 5th of this month.
The UDP also endorse the ILP in the state of Meghalaya to check influx and illegal immigrant to the state. The UDP fill that the Government should not ignore the HLC committee constituted by the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and former deputy Cm Bindo M Lanong was the Chairman.
Mr Lyngdoh said that in the HLC the government has also put members from the cabinet and all the three District Council executive Members along with civil society. The Government should not waste any more time in addressing the issued.
Eve though the Government is against the idea of implementing of the ILP, Lyngdoh said that they are hopeful that the Government would reconsider the proposal of implementing of the ILP as recommended by the HLC on Influx.(SP News)
