Shillong, Sept 10: The Self Help Group (SHG) from various parts of the East Khasi Hills District under the baner Shillong federation today hold their public rally at Madan Student to air their views against the state government plant to abolished the Meghalaya Rural development Society. The Chairman of the federation Mr Tourist Khonglah said that if the government did so they will go to court.
In his public speech the Chairman of the Federation mr Khonglah said that in the whole state there are more than 2000 SHG and in one group its consit of more than 10 people. The presence of this SHG has change the lives of many people in the rural areas in their economic condition.
The objective of the when it was constituted in the year 2010 the MRDS will look to the socio economic life of the people in the rural areas where people have been benefited from the MRDS if the government wine up the Society will affect the people who has started getting benefit from the society.
In the public rally many speakers asked the state government let by Dr Mukul Sangma to strengthen the MRDS for the benefit of the wreakers section of society who need the helping hand in their economic growth. The MRDS not only help the economic growth but also foster the spirit of brother hood in the society and the spirit of cooperation among them.(SP News)
