A formal handing over ceremony was held today at the MCA elected

Shillong, Jan 13: A formal handing over ceremony was held today at the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s conference hall in Polo here where the recently-elected Apex Council Members took charge.

The election was held last month and the new body has former cabinet minister of Meghalaya James PK Sangma as its President. Sangma is being supported by the new Vice-President Rajiv Bareh, while Rayonald Kharkamni returns as Honorary Secretary. The Honorary Joint Secretary is Mebanphira Swer, Honorary Treasurer Eddystone Shylla and Apex Council Member Chuba R Marak.

The members of the previous Apex Council were present, led by departing President Nababrata Bhattacharjee. The MCA also used this opportunity to felicitate players and support staff.

The President and other Apex Council Members honoured the U-23 men’s team and officials for winning the plate group of the BCCI’s State A Trophy 2025-26 one day tournament. Two other players – Akash Kumar Choudhary and Purav Agarwal, were also felicitated on being included in the Indian Premier League 2026 auction.
