Air Marshal R Nambiar took over as the new , AOC-IN-C, EAC, IAF

Shillong, December 30: Air Marshal C Hari Kumar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, IAF handed over  the command of EAC to Air Marshal R Nambiar,  Senior Air Staff Officer on  30 December  2016 today.

Air Marshal C Hari Kumar had taken over the command of HQ EAC on 01 September 2015.  A Fighter Combat Leader and a Qualified Flying Instructor, the Air Marshal was commissioned in the Fighter Stream on 14 December 1979.

For his distinguished service to the Nation, he has been decorated with the Presidential awards of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal. His tenure at the helm of EAC, spanning more than a year, has been very eventful.

The Operationalisation of Advanced Landing Grounds at Ziro, Along, Walong, Mechuka, Pasighat and Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh & upgradation of Air Force Station Arjan Singh at Panagarh are some of the important milestones achieved under his leadership.

He has ensured that many infrastructure projects have been expedited for induction of new and modern assets and the security forces are geared up to face any challenge.

Mrs. Devika Hari Kumar  handed over the charge of President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association Regional to Mrs. Luxmi Nambiar at a Ceremony held at Headquarters Eastern Air Command, Shillong. During her stay at HQ EAC Shillong, she ensured dignified upgradation to the educational and medical infrastructure, including modern facilities in Umeed Asha Kiran, the school for special children at AF Station Barrackpore.  She also ensured that all AF Stations have access to medical specialists like Gynaecologist and Paediatrician.
