Shillong, March 21: A Veterans outreach & Interaction event was held at Narangi Military Station on 21 Mar 2021 as a run up to commemorate the 50 years of 1971 war victory over Pakistan as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’. A series of events have been planned across the nation to celebrate this historic occasion.
The event was attended by 70 Veterans, families of specially abled Veterans and civil dignitaries. Many senior Veterans were present on the occasion including Lieutenant General P K Bharali, VSM (Retd), Chairman All Assam ESM Association.
Major General Vikas Saini, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding 51 Sub Area lauded the contribution and efforts of our Veterans towards the society and during the war 1971.
Mr Jishnu Barua, IAS, Chief Secretary to Government of Assam addressed and appreciated the efforts of Veterans Community and Indian Army in nation building.
The General Officer Commanding also felicitated two specially abled Veterans and presented them with a Wheel Chair and Modified Auto Scooter each. The event concluded with a grand Barakhana organized for all.
