Shillong, April 18: The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority has organised the National Lok Adalat on the 17th April, 2021 in all the districts of the State of Meghalaya, except North Garo Hills District, Resubelpara.
Under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and under the Patronage of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Biswanath Somadder, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and under the supervision of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice R. V. More, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya, and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
In the National Lok Adalat, 936 Pre-Litigation cases and 572 pending cases were taken up in the whole State of Meghalaya, except North Garo Hills District for settlement. The number of cases taken up were 1508. 287 cases were settled and an amount of ` 1,23,52,847/- (Rupees One crore twenty three lakhs fifty two thousand eight hundred and forty seven) only was settled said Mr. N. M. Momin Officer-on-Special Duty, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
