Mairang, July 28: Continuing with the ongoing celebration of Bijli Mahotsav under Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya- Power @ 2047 which forms part of the commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the District Administration, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Mairang in collaboration with NEEPCO, Shillong and MeECL organised a programme to mark the event at Kynshi Bangla Dorbar Hall, Kynshi.
The meeting was attended KHADC Executive Member in charge Elaka , Shri Jambor War as Chief Guest in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Shri W. Nongsiej, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Shri V. Swer, Deputy General Manager, NEEPCO, Shillong Smti. Loretta A Kharmawphlang, district officials, traditional heads, SHG members, school principals, teachers and students.
During the programme, while speaking on the significance of the commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Chief Guest, KHADC Executive Member in charge Elaka, Shri Jambor War stated that the celebration provides an opportunity for the country to honour its freedom fighters belonging to different parts of the country as also a platform to showcase strides made in various spheres of development and the celebration of Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya is one such occasion where achievements made in the power sector is being celebrated in all the districts of the country.
In his speech, the Chief Guest also dwelt at length on the history of India’s freedom movement even as he reminded the gathering of the relentless efforts of the country’s freedom fighters which finally yielded fruits when the India, under the able leadership of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, achieved its independence on 15th August 1947.
In his message to school students present at the programme, Shri War urged upon the young minds to work hard in their educational pursuits to be able to make a fitting contribution towards nation building in the years to come.
Other highlights of the celebration include experience sharing by scheme beneficiaries, screening of short films depicting achievements in the power sector, a skit on energy conservation performed by students of Kynshi Higher Secondary School, Kynshi and an action song performed by students of St. Dominic Savio Secondary School, Kynshi

Chyrmang, Assistant Executive Engineer, Mairang Distribution, MePDCL, Mairang, Shri Banpynbitlang Kharkamni and Sordar of Kynshi Bangla, Shri Aibankupar Syiemlieh who presided over the programme.
