First ever video conferencing by Meghalaya State Planning Board with BDOs

Shillong, November 22:  First ever video conferencing by Meghalaya State Planning Board to communicate with VECs Umling C&R D Block ,as a follow up to the review of  development in Rural Sector, Mr. John F Kharshiing, Co-Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board, Working Group – III, conducted its First ever video conferencing today, with officials at remote Community and Rural Development Blocks  and reps of Village Employment Councils,  under Umling C&RD Block, Ri-Bhoi District and Saipung C&RD Block under East Jaintia Hills District.

Today the  Block Development Officer, Umling, C&RD, Ri-Bhoi District and Six Village Employment Council members and representatives including one or two women representative. The discussion is the challenges faced by the BDO’s and the VEC’s in implementing the rural schemes ii) Overall development in the area iii) Statistics of enrollment of Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS)

The video conferencing was held with the assistance of the NIC, at Meghalaya State Centre, NIC Building, Secretariat Hill, Shillong, while the BDO’s were interacting live from Nongpoh District Headquarters, in presence of Six  VEC representatives including two women Representatives from the Six Village Employment Council (VEC)s.

Earlier the scheduled 11AM video conferencing with BDO Saipung C&RD Block, East Jaintia Hills District, could not materialise as the network communication to Khliehriat,  East Jaintia Hills was down and hence had to be postponed.

The review  with Block Development Officer, Umling, C&RD, at Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi District with the BDO and Six Village Employment Council members /representatives including two women representative was very informative and the review through video conferencing enabled the officials and the VEC members to highlight the challenges faced by them in implementing the rural schemes, overall development of the area and statistics of enrollment of MHIS.
