Shillong May 01: The Khasi Authors’ Society as part of the Celebration to mark the 175th year of the introduction of Khasi Alphabets is organizing an awareness programme and procession on 5.5.17 to toughen the essence of the Khasi language. The Inaugural Function will be held at Jaïaw Shyiap Durbar Hall, Shillong at 11.30 A.M.
The Syiem of Nongstoiñ, Mr. Phylla Sing Syiem has consented to grace the function as Chief Quest. After the Inaugural Function, there will be a procession to Students’ Field, Jaïaw where the rally will be culminated. The leaders of various NGOs will speak on the need to promote the Khasi language.
The Khasi Authors’ Society invites all sections of the people of Shillong to join the procession for toughening the essence of the Khasi language. All Local Durbars and NGOs in the city are requested to appeal to their citizens and units and members to join the procession.
Principals of the schools around Mawkhar and Jaïaw area are requested to allow all their students of Classes IX, X and XII to join the programme; and for other schools within the city, they are requested to send all students of Class XII only. KAS calls upon everyone concern to join the procession for the cause of promoting the status and recognition of the Khasi language.
