Shillong, Sept 20: The North-Eastern Hill University is dedicated to providing quality education to students, fostering not only their development for the purpose of nation- building, but also is committed to safeguard their interest. Towards this end, NEHU is continuously working on implementation of various UGC guidelines for academic excellence.
The memorandum submitted by NEHUSU and other bodies requesting for implementation of grading system as per UGC Curriculum and NEHU Ordinance OC-20 for the PG batch 2022-2024.
The University administration in true earnest initiated the process by forwarding the grievances of the students to Examination department to undertake a detailed study to include all aspects including academic, legal and statutory and to work-out various issues involved in implementation, keeping the best interest of the student community in view.
On receipt of the report from the Examination department, the University administration under the able leadership of the Vice-Chancellor decided to refer the matter to University authorities/statutory bodies for implementation of the recommendation of the Examination department.
It is pertinent to mention here that as per the Act & Statutes of the University, any amendment to the existing Ordinance has to be approved through due process undertaken by various University authorities/ statutory bodies and requires the assent of Visitor of the University; i.e. the Hon’ble President of India.
The University administration is committed to safeguard the best interest of the student community by following due statutory process, however the same may take sometime. It is further assured to all stake holders that the interest of all batches under NEP 2020, including the 2022-24 Post Graduate batch will be governed by same Ordinance and Regulations.
