Shillong, June 03: The NERLDC Observes Swacchata Pakhwada with enthusiasm and Community Engagement As per the Ministry of Power’s guidelines, NERLDC, a unit of GRID-INDIA, observed Swacchata Pakhwada from 16th to 31st May 2025 with active participation from employees across its Shillong and Guwahati centres.
The observance began with the Swacchata Pledge administered by the Head of Region on 16th May. This was followed by a Health Talk on Ergonomics and Lower Back Pain, aimed at employee well-being.
A notable Shramdaan activity saw employees cleaning the weekly market area near the Kahilipara powerhouse main road. Both centres undertook a plantation drive. In Shillong, employees visited Nongrah Presbyterian School, where plantation was carried out in collaboration with the school authorities.
In Guwahati, employees visited the BDS School for the Hearing Impaired at Kahilipara. NERLDC gifted 10 lemon saplings to the school, which were planted by the students with help from their teachers. The children expressed joy at nurturing the plants and watching them grow and bear fruit.

At Guwahati At Shillong Internally, a slogan writing competition for employees and a painting and craft competition for their children added creative flavor to the observance.
A special session on “Waste to Wealth” was conducted by Dr. Jayaditya Purkayastha from Help Earth Foundation, who inspired employees with practical waste management strategies and shared how Assam’s youth are contributing to conservation efforts.
In his opening address, ED NERLDC Shri Amaresh Mallick urged all employees to embrace Swacchata as a way of life, not just an event. NERLDC remains committed to sustainability, cleanliness, and social responsibility in every action.
