Shillong, April 27: The North East Students’ Organization is deeply disturbed and expresses our outmost concern over the recurring cycle of violence and bloodshed that continues to plague the state of Manipur.
The Organization is profoundly disturbed by the persistence of such tragic incidents, wherein innocent lives are lost and the very fabric of peaceful coexistence is being relentlessly eroded.
These repeated acts of violence against unarmed civilians represents grave humanitarian concern that strikes at the core of human dignity, security and the fundamental right to live in peace.
The continuing unrest has inflicted immeasurable suffering upon countless families and communities, leaving behind a trail of grief, fear and uncertainty.
The North East Students’ Organization extends heartfelt condolences to all bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this prolonged conflict and stands in unwavering solidarity with every victim affected by this tragic situation.
The pain endured by the people is a collective pain shared by the entire North East. At this critical juncture, the Organization finds it imperative to question the inability of the concerned State and Central authorities to effectively intervene and bring an end to this protracted crisis, which has been ongoing for years.
The continued failure to restore peace and normalcy reflects a deeply concerning lapse in governance and responsibility. The North East Students’ Organization unequivocally calls for immediate, fair and transparent intervention to halt further escalation of violence.
It is imperative that justice is delivered without delay. Those responsible for perpetrating such heinous acts must be identified, held accountable, and booked in accordance with the law in order to restore public confidence and uphold the rule of law.
The Organization earnestly appeals to all communities and stakeholders to exercise restraint, uphold the values of humanity, and commit themselves to the path of peace.
Violence can never be a solution; only dialogue and mutual respect aimed at addressing the underlying issues and fostering long-term reconciliation can pave the way for lasting peace.
It may be recalled that the North East Students’ Organization, along with its constituent units, has in the past undertaken peace missions in an effort to facilitate understanding and promote amicable solutions among all concerned.
The Organization reiterates its commitment to continue such efforts in the larger interest of peace, harmony and stability in the region.
The North East Students’ Organization firmly believes that the restoration of peace in Manipur is not only a regional necessity but a moral imperative.
The time has come for all concerned authorities to act with urgency, sincerity and accountability, said Samuel B Jyrwa Chairman NESO in the press statement issued today.
