Shillong, Jan 3: One Chingkam Ch Marak of Jakopgre village an accused of the Williamnagar gang rape of an 18 year old girl was arrested from his sister’s house at Cheangre Tura today morning.
It may be mentioned here that earlier the police have arrested fifteen out of the sixteen accused ranging in the age of 13 to 20 years.
Out of the accused arrested by the police eight of them were are juvenile and have been registered juvenile case and will be taken up by the Juvenile Justice Board.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya police while submitting its report of the case to the state government had requested the district administration to conduct a weekly trial keeping in mind the exigency of the case and the absence of a Fast Track Court in Williamnagar. A sum of Rs, 25, 000 as interim relief have been granted to the victim by the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills.(SP News)
