Rajasthan defeated Meghalaya by 296-run in  Vijay Hazare Trophy one day match in Kolkata

Shillong, Nov 21: Meghalaya suffered a heavy 296-run defeat at the hands of Rajasthan in today’s Vijay Hazare Trophy one day match in Kolkata.

Meghalaya won the toss and chose to field first but their opponents made 390/4 in their 50 overs, to which Meghalaya could only respond with 94 all out.

The wickets were shared out among guest professional Rajesh Bishnoi (1/53), Sylvester Mylliempdah (1/64) and Abhishek Kumar (1/89), with the other being a run out by Wanlambok Nongkhlaw.

At the fall of the fourth wicket, Rajasthan were on 284 with 5.1 overs remaining. Then began a ferocious onslaught by Aditya Garhwal, who proceeded to smash 98 runs off just 29 deliveries, which added another 106 to Rajasthan’s total. Garhwal, the thorn in Meghalaya’s side, finished not out on 149 from 70 balls.

After that shock, Meghalaya’s batters had to find some response but only four of them got to double figures, with Lerry Sangma top-scoring with 20. The other three were Yogesh Tiwari (18), Riboklang Hynniewta (11) and Mylliempdah (10).

Meghalaya now have to pick themselves up for one last match when they take on Sikkim on Wednesday.
