Shillong: The Commandant General of Home Guards and Director of Civil Defence, Meghalaya, Shri. A. R. Mawthoh, IPS today launched the official Facebook page of the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Meghalaya, Shillong, at a simple ceremony in his office chamber at Lower Lachumiere, Shillong in the presence of senior officers of the Department.
Speaking on the occasion Shri. Mawthoh said that the importance of Social Media as a medium to disseminate important information and messages in the present day cannot be ignored.
He said that utilization of Social Media for dissemination of information has also been strongly advocated in the Honourable Prime Minister’s 10 Point Agenda for Disaster Risk Reduction where in point No. 7 the Prime Minister had articulated the importance of utilizing the opportunities provided by Social Media and Mobile Technologies for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Shri. Mawthoh said that an official Facebook page for the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Meghalaya, Shillong has therefore been created for sharing important information, notifications and advisories in public interest.
Shri. Mawthoh said that “For instance, information on Recruitment in the Department can be uploaded in the Facebook page with a link for the detailed notice in the Departmental Website (www.meghomeguards.gov.in), which can be very effective for a majority of our youths who are on Facebook now a days.”
He invited the general public to visit the Facebook page “Meghalaya Civil Defence, Home Guards & SDRF” at https://www.facebook.com/MeghalayaCDHG and also to like and follow it for getting the latest information of the Department.
