Shillong, May 02: A special programme was held at Lok Bhavan in Shillong on Friday to mark the Foundation Day and Statehood Day of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
The event took place at the Durbar Hall and witnessed participation from government officials, college students, distinguished citizens, and invited guests.
The programme featured a series of cultural performances, including traditional dances showcasing the rich heritage of the three states, adding vibrancy to the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, C. H. Vijayashankar extended his greetings to the people of the three states and underscored their historical and cultural significance. He noted that the celebration reflected the spirit, values, and contributions of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra to the nation.
Describing Himachal Pradesh, the Governor highlighted its scenic beauty and spiritual traditions, calling it a symbol of simplicity, resilience, and harmony with nature. Speaking about Gujarat, he said the state represents courage, innovation, and nation-building, and continues to thrive as a hub of trade, entrepreneurship, and technological progress.
Referring to Maharashtra, he emphasized its pivotal role in shaping India’s political, cultural, and economic landscape, describing it as a land of reformers and thinkers who have championed justice, education, and social advancement.
The Governor further remarked that the three states share a common spirit of hard work, patriotism, and dedication to nation-building. He stressed that India’s strength lies in the collective contributions of its diverse regions and communities.
He conveyed his best wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra for continued peace, prosperity, and progress, expressing hope that they will preserve their rich heritage while striving for greater achievements.
