Shillong, september 2: The 9th Shillong Book Fair organized by Book Line Kolkatta will kick start today at Savio Hall, Shillong and conclude on September 14. The aim of the fair is to promote and increase the reading habits of the young generation in the state especially taking into account the enormous growth of the digital world.
The book fair will also witness the release of a book titled, ‘Soliloquy’ meaning ‘Talking to Oneself’ authored by Aldos Mawlong IAS and writer. The book will be released by Fredric Kharkongor IAS Commissioner Secretary government of Meghalaya.
Mawlong’s first book titled ‘A book of Fairies’ was released in 1991, followed by a book titled ‘Collage’ released in 2002 and the third installment of his book will be released on September 2, titled ‘Soliloquy’.
Talking about the book, Ananya S Guha said, “This book contains quotes in which the author had gone through a lot of pain in compiling them into this book and many readers may not take such a book seriously but it does not matter since people today are only going for the hot stuffs things which creates sensations however it does not matter since this book can make a difference for the young adults and schools students.”
He further state that Shillong is starved of book fairs and expressed the need to organize similar book fair in the city in the near future. The Fair will shelve 10,000 title books along with some other rare books which are not in publication any longer.
