Shillong, March 12: On 11 Mar’ 2024, alert troops of 172 Bn BSF Meghalaya successfully thwarted a smuggling attempt by seizing clothing items and health supplements valued at over 14 lakh rupees while being smuggled to Bangladesh from the International border of East Jaintia Hills district.
Acting on specific information, the consignment was seized by BSF troops when it was dumped in a jungle area near the international border, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The seized items were handed over to the local customs office for further action.
