Shillong May 13: Deputy chief Minister Mr Prestone Tynsong inform that the Cabinet has approve for the Amendment of the Agricultural Marketing Act, 1918, this is a central act but since it was in the concurrent list the state government has say on this act.
Mr Prestone said that the objective of amending this act is to enable the state government to set up more regulated market in the state at present the state has only two regulated market, at Mawiong in East Khasi Hills District and Garobada in West Garo Hills District.
The state cabinet has approved the proposal of the labour department to bring the Meghalaya Labour Law Amendment Bill, 2020.
The Meghalaya Labour Law Amendment Bill, 2020 was approved to amend certain provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, the Industries Disputes Act, 1947 and the Contract Labour Act, 1970.
The state cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday in the presence of deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and other ministers.
