Shillong, November 24: On 4th November, 2016 a complaint was received that two numbers of books of Mineral Transport Challan and two numbers of Meghalaya Environment Protection Restoration Fund Transport Challan were found missing from DMR office Risa Colony, Shillong.
In this connection, a case was registered and investigated into. Following the investigation it was found that one Mr Wadlang Kharhujon a chowkidar of DMR office stole the challan books from the said office and sold the above challans to Mr Obadaia Thongni of New Nongstoin who in turn sold them to Mr Challen Synshiang of Shallang, West Khasi Hills for five lakhs.
The culprits were traced and arrested due to the joint efforts of East Khasi Hills Police and West Khasi Hills Police.
