Shillong, Nov 17: In the early morning today at around 3.30 AM the of 109 years old at Qualapatty of the “Balang U Blei” devastated with fire, in the incident two elderly person die due to fire injury.
Talking to SP News Agency the three laboures who were staying in the basement of the Church for doing repair work, the sealing of the Church said that at around 3.30 AM, they smell of fire smoke, the three of them rush outside and cried for help. The Fire according to this three eye witness said that the fire started from sealing of the church.
Rev Pastor K Nongpluh who is looking after the administration of the Church said that when the church was started at Mylliem and latter shifted to the present site in 1904 or 1906 but as per record the present church was build in the year 1910.
In the fire incident others three near bu houses were also gutted with fire and in the incident two elderly people happen to be couple die due to fire injury. The relative of the deceased said that they are Mr Tiameren Basaiawmoit and Smti Reliable Laloo. The police have done their formality as perlaw.
The fire fight tender after getting the information rushed to the spot but since they are coming with the big fire tender could enter the narrow lane, the fire tender of the smaller one later come enter the campus and tried their best control the fire. The Superintendent of police incharge fire service personally monitors the fire incident.
The Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills District Smti Matsiewdor War and the Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills District Smti C Lyngwa also visited the site along with others state government official from the District Administration.
The Superintendent of Police incharge fire service she said that they are still on the job as till filling of the report she said that she will not be able to say anything, let they complete the preliminary investigation.
