CM of Assam Meghalaya, agreed to demarcate in the 12 dispute area amicably

Guwahahti, April 01: Assam Chief Minister Mr Sarbanada Sonowal and Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, were disused on the issue of inter-state border dispute after a gap of seven years at the chief minister level. The meeting was held today at Brahmaputra guest House where both discussed   others issue mutually for the interest of both the state.

In the meeting both the chief minister vowed to take forward the dialogues to resolved long pending issue and build a foundation for a robust relationship. In the meeting it was discussed to resolved border issue through dialogue taking into account view of both sides.  The two chief ministers agreed upon to demarcate in the twelve dispute area amicably at the border.

Fixing of border pillars so that long pending contentious issues can be resolved to the satisfaction of the people of both the states. Chief Secretary level meeting were decided to be held between to state to iron up differences and reached at the acceptable conclusions.

Raising the issue of extremist activities in South Salmara and Mancahar District of Assam bordering Garo Hills District of Meghalaya Assam chief minister said that a joint mechanism must be put in place to check criminals activities, like extortion, abduction carried up by Meghalaya insurgent in the border area and sharing of intelligence and maintain law and order must be increased.

The Chief Minister of Assam said that the people of Meghalaya and Assam have a age old ties, and protection of environment must be  the prime objective   of both the state government, from the chief minister of Assam urged the Chief Minister to take step to prevent hills cutting in Meghalaya to prevent flashed flood in Guwahati city.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Dr Mukul Sangma expressing his gratitude for being invited to Assam, he said that the Government of Meghalaya has been able to curtail and reduce crimes considerably in the state and urged Assam Government to keep full cooperation in managing crimes in the border area and insurgent groups will be control in the border area in near future.

As Meghalaya heavily depend on    Agro-Horticulture product as its mainstay of its economy, the government of Meghalaya is committed for facilitating peaceful environment for Assam traders to augment the supply chain of its products assured Dr Mukul Sangma.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya assured that illegal cutting of hills will be stop as Meghalaya share 433 km long international border with Banglasesh stopping illegal migration and managing crimes at the border areas remains key concerns for Meghalaya and similar to Assam and both state must jointly tackle the issue. Only strong political will can make it possible for both state governments to bring peace and contribute to North East region said Dr Mukul.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya also emphasis that meetings between District level officers of bordering District must be also organized for bring better cooperation. From Meghalaya others who were accompanying the Chief Minister at this Chief Minister level meeting, are Dr DD Lapang, Deputy Chief Minister Dr RC Laloo, Law minister Smti Roshan Warjri , Power minister Sengewbhalang Dhar,and others official.

From the Assam Government, who were in the Chief Minister level meeting, are Forest Minister P R Brahma, PWD minister P. Suklabaidya, Minister of state for power PL Das, media and legal adviser to the chief minister H Goswami and many others official were present in the meeting.
