“Therefore there is a strong political will to fine amicable solution in this area of differences, whatever we do it must be done in a respectful manner and both the state will respect each other’s, today in the meeting we had detail presentation given by the Government of Assam on six of the areas of differences that are their out of twelve”. Said Mr Conrad.

Mr. Cornad said that the strategies that both the state government has agrees to follow is to take up this matters in a phase wise manner, so there areas which are slightly lesser complicated, some slightly more and some very complicated, therefore we would like resolved this issued by taking the areas of dispute the areas of difference in a phase wise manner.

“ In the meeting we have decided that six areas of differences are, Tarabari, Gizang, Hahim, Boklapara, Khanapara-Pilangata and Ratacherra out of the twelve’s areas of differences this six areas is what we have decided that will move towards finding amicable solution to this”, said Mr. Conrad.

In the interest of ensuring that is done in a much faster manner both the Chief Minister  have also decided, that there will be regional committees that they will be form by both the state which should be headed by a cabinet minister, so we have three region where this six areas of differences fall in.

“In this three region we have three committees from Meghalaya and three committees from Assam and both side will be headed by a cabinet minister, we have decided also that will focus on, Historical facts, Ethnicity, Administrative Convenience, Willingness, the  overall people sentiment and continuity”. Siad Meghalaya Chief Minister.

“Base on this five  terms  we will try to fine the way forwards and we have urged this committees to submit their report and finding after having joint visit to the different areas and location within the nest thirty days”. Said Mr Conrad.

Within these thirty days the Chief Minister of Assam and Chief Minister of Meghalaya Will also will be making some visit to some of the areas on differences also to give positive message to the people and to show our keenness and willingness to move forwards to fine solution to this very important and long pending difference and dispute that these to state have.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya said that with the right political will and with respect to each other’s and ensuring that the reality of today’s world are also taking into consideration that we will be able to fine solution to this difficult problems.

The Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said when they met in Shillong on the 23/7/2021 they have decided that this twelve dispute cannot be resolved at a time, so we have to take step by step approached, in the last meeting held in Shillong Government of Meghalaya have given the presentation flaking their prospective issued.

The Chief Minister of Assam said that the Government of Assam has given the presentation highlighting our point of views, basically after threadbare discussion both in Shillong and Guwahati we found that it will be good if  start with six location where the chief minister of Meghalaya has indicated what are thus six location.

The six areas of location in Assam side these are in Cachar District, Kamrup Metro, and Kamrup District, from Meghalaya site is in West Khasi Hills,  Ri Bhoi and East Jaintia Hills District.

So what they have done for this three districts we have take Meghalaya for the purpose of reference, we have created regional committee headed by Cabinet minister from Meghalaya site and Cabinet minister from Assam site.

The three regional committee will be there to resolved dispute which are there for West Khasi Hills District, Ri Bhoi District and Jaintia District, this committee will also include bureaucrats and may be the local representative, we have decided that from both side the committee will be constituted with five members.

“ It’s up to the government of Meghalaya to notified the five names and from Assam site the Government of Assam will notified the five names, this ten peoples who will be nominated by each of the Government will intern visit the site interact with the civil society with the Gangbura and Panchayats members, teachers and others civil society members”. Said Mr. Himanta.

The Chief Minister of Assam also mention that they will complete their Discussion within the period of thirty days, because after the presentation from both side we realized that this may not be complex matter, so at such there will be presentation or their will be deliberation of the regional committees.

After thirty days where will meet again either in Shillong or Guwhati the respected committee will be their recommendation what should be done and what not to be done, of course as the committee will be headed by cabinet minister from both the site  the difference will be narrow down during the committee itself.

So that the Chief Minister level meeting  will become a kind of  authenticated what will be arrived between the state in the regional committee set up by itself if the difference still exist between the two regional committees then of course the matter will be taken up at the matter at the level of the Chief Minister or in the level of the higher forum.

Once this six dispute are resolved gradually will go to the others six palace  but in the mean time as a measure of good will we have decided that Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the Chief Minister of Assam will go to Langpih also once so that the people can be fill assured that we are going to resolved the complicated issued also, it is not that we are not going to resolved the complicated issued, said the Chief Minister of Asssam Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
